Management Accountant
Description

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. This role will support the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, providing insight that helps drive informed decision-making across a fast-paced and growing retailer.
The Team
You will play a key part in a large Finance Team, reporting directly to the Head of Management Accounts and FP&A. You will be working alongside and closely with two other Management Accountants and an FP&A Manager.

You will be familiar with month-end process, budgeting and forecasting activities.

Skills & Experience
You are a part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or hold an equivalent qualification
You have proven experience in a Management Accountant or similar role
You have strong technical accounting knowledge, with a particular focus on overheads and balance sheet control
You have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills
You communicate effectively across departments, translating financial data into meaningful insight
You have strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset
Desirable Skills & Experience
You are proficient in Cognos or similar reporting tools
Experience in a fast-paced, commercially focused retail environment
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and produce accurate monthly management accounts
Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
Report and analyse overhead and cost variances, providing clear commentary at month end
Contribute analysis and commentary to Board pack preparation
Perform cost analysis and profitability reporting
Monitor and control cost centre coding
Budgeting & Forecasting
Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting
Align budgeting/forecasting outputs with organisational goals
Overheads & Controls
Manage accruals, prepayments, and ownership of designated overhead accounts
Ensure costs are accurately captured within the P&L, liaising with cross-functional teams
Audit, Compliance & Governance
Support internal and external audit requirements for items within the Management Accounts remit
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations
Process & Collaboration
Identify and contribute to process improvements within finance and overhead reporting systems
Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely, accurate financial information
Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as required
Prepare and submit statistical surveys (e.g. ONS returns)
Manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively
